Default New Jersey Shore

have to see old clients in central nj, and figured why not stop by the 'shore' as i've never been (does AC count?) any recommendations for something more lowkey with a board walk ..or is everything generally more crowded this time of yr

Where will you be in NJ? Will it be a weekend? Point Pleasant is nice, and on the weekends you can drink your margaritas right on the beach outside of Jenkinson's. Manasquan is a little more low key. Avon is pretty, and low key. Spring lake is gorgeous, and very low key, as is Sea Girt...very wealthy with beautiful homes.

I would say take a ride to Cape May. It is just lovely down there, laid back and nice restaurants and beach, also has light house and strip malls. Avalon and Stone harbor are nice places to visit too. Ocean city has a long boardwalk, amusements, stores, and beach. Sea Isle city, Smithville its a historic place where you can dine and shop till you drop also has unique things that a regular mall would not have.

i will be on long beach island this weekend. its low key but no boardwalk. as far as im concerned, its a better place to pick up chicks than manasquan or belmar (not that it matters to you).

if you are gonna hang out in atlantic city i recommend going to the borgata and not leaving that hotel. the boardwalk there is pure filth.

Depending how far south you will be there is Spring Lake, Ocean Grove with the Victorian homes, and Long Branch.

I have never been to any of the Jersey Shores as I just move to the state about 5 months ago. I have also heard that Springlake is nice. Just one question to those who are knowledgable about the Jersey beach scene: They mentioned about somewhere $8 to $10 a "badge" in order to get access to most of the beaches in Jersey. What is a "badge"? Is it a badge per person, or per household? In a household of 4 people, do they charge me about $32.00 for the "badges" in order to go to the beach?

Per person, kids (I think under 12) are generally free. A "badge" is a pin you wear and can be daily, weekly, or seasonal. If you are planning a trip, just go on the town website or give them a call about cost and how to obtain badges.

Spring Lake is beautiful, but for a family with kids, it's worth the trip to Ocean City. Great, clean, boardwalk with lots of rides, restaurants and stores. There's also a nice little downtown.
You can just buy day passes at any beach entrance.
