Question Commute from Warren Countyto Jersey City on 78

Hi,

Just bought a home (closing in Aug) in Warren county NJ near Stewartsville. I am planning on Driving to work in Jersey City (Hate Trains), and need info on when Rush hour is on 78 (and any other choke points) both coming and going?

Any help is appreciated. I realize the commute will be over 1 Hour 30 minutes, just love the area.

Best to go off off-peak, get in early, leave early. 78 volume is not as bad as 80 but you'll have sunglare at times during the year and major truck issues, especially in winter around the mountain. If you plan to go in at 'rush hour' then you're asking for trouble. But that's true anywhere in NJ. The one thing I could never figure out is why people insist on getting on the road at 'rush hour' and then wonder why they hit a ton of traffic, get in early. It's healthier to get up early, your body will get used to it, you'll be more productive and if you have a decent job you can leave early and have a nice evening. I just don't understand it.

Thanks for the reply, what time is early, and are there any stretches of 78 that are worse than others?

welcome to the neighborhood . 78 is great in the am. I can make it to Newark in just about an hour. Traffic starts to get heavy once you hit the 287 on ramp area... after that it opens up and then jams a little again once you hit the 24/78 merge.
Congrats! on your purchase... if you need any info. on the area, I'd be more than happy to assist .. Oh, and Gara's has the best pizza and hot wings to die for!
