If you save a couple dollars, but spend 15-30 mins more per day in the car, is it worth it? What's your time worth?

One of the bridges is free. The one on Interstate 78 is not.

Neither is the one on US 22. Calico is talking about the one right next to US 22.

Take the Patco train or walk across the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

If you're driving at highway speeds (60MPH) getting 25 MPG, it costs is about $1.00 - $1.50, plus wear and tear on the car and the lost time you could be spending with family or doing something productive.

Not to mention that statistically, the more time you spend in the car, the higher the chance of a car accident, flat tire, etc...

If the toll is $3-4.00, I would rather spend the money then waste the time in the car...

To get from Philadelphia to North Jersey is easy. Take I-95 to Route 1. To get back is almost as easy, you just have to take the Trenton Makes The World Takes bridge instead of the Route 1 bridge.

To get to NY next to the GW without tolls, step one is to get to Albany. I'd recommend just paying the toll instead.

+1, without a doubt!
The next question is whether Akher perceives the irony of that routing.

Leave Philly on I-95 North to NJ-29 North to NJ-179 North to US-202 North to I-287 North.

Then exit at NJ-208 East to NJ-4 East to GWB.

No way to get across the Hudson River for free until you are WAY north. I'd rather take the Tappan Zee Bridge than the GWB.

I should add you could just exit I-287 at I-80 East to the GWB.

If you want the TZB, stay on I-287 to I-87 South (NYS Thruway) to the TZB.
