I grew up in S. Plainfield - and I will tell you - DO NOT move to Plainfield - it is bad - you have to worry about being mugged all the time. Sleepy Hollow is the nicest section but it is too close to very bad sections.
Good thing you dont have kids because Plainfield schools are very bad and Plainfield H.S. is a hellhole. I know many people who went there and barely made it out alive - I am not kidding.
The old Victorian houses in Plainfield are beautiful and Plainfield used to be an affluent town - in fact at the turn of the century is was a "resort" where rich people from the city would come for the fresh air and country atomosphere. I remember when there was even a Macys in Plainfield and you could walk downtown to tons of shops - now it is a bombed out wasteland. My Mother worked for the Bell Tel. in Plainfield and they had an armed guard that escorted the employees into the parking lot at night- it was that bad. Nothing has really recovered since the riots of the 60's - I was a child then and remember we were not allowed out of our homes as Plainfield burned.
N. Plainfield seems to be revitalizing with young Hispanic families. S. Plainfield is very safe - they have tons of cops for a tiny town and everyone keeps an eye out. Dunellen is where my family comes from and parts are nice but other parts are getting bad.

Hi everyone. I'm looking for houses in Plainfield. Can anyone tell me where exactly is Sleepy Hollow? Which streets border that area? Thank you.
