1.Bagels - To me most are all the same... no particular favorite. Bagel Buffet in Secaucus is OVERRATED, HUGE and beautiful inside but 1 slice of taylor ham on my sandwich? come on now...
2.Mexican: Blue Moon in Englewood or Panchos in New Milford also Haciendas in Paterson is very good
3.Pizza: for regular everyday pizza Rose's Pizza in Garfield and for Thin Crust Kinchleys in Ramsey
4.Steakhouse: Steves Sizzling Steaks in Carlstadt on 17 - get the house steak sauce
5.Ice Cream: - Eh... ice cream whatever... Applegate Farms I guess no big deal
6.Chinese: No clue...
7.Seafood: I don't eat seafood
8.Deli/Sub Shop - A place in Englewood but I forget the name... not Jerry's (which is also very good) it's on a corner...
9.Bakery: For bread Fragles in Garfield and B&W in Hackensack for pastery (crumb cake of course)
10.Burgers: White Manna in Hackensack without question

1.Bagels - the bagel shop on 202 in Towaco (forget the name, Eli's?) has a great selections, as does Sam I Am in Totowa
2.Mexican - nothing comes to mind
3.Pizza - the best sicilian pizza I've had is at V&J in Pompton Plains
4.Steakhouse - Ruth's Chris in Parsippany was all I heard it was when I went there
5.Ice Cream - Applegate Farms
6.Chinese - depends on how they make their General Tso's chicken
7.Seafood - a few pretty good; none knock me over
8.Deli/Sub Shop - A&A in Lincoln Park; great selection, and they are huge...
9.Bakery - our Shop Rite in LP is a very good bakery; otherwise, Packanack Bakery in Wayne is excellent
10.Burgers - best burger I had was at Bogey's in Whippany
random food items:
Buffalo Calamari - at Maggie Moore's in Lincoln Park; amazingly good, especially for a late snack
BLT soup / Lobster Mac & Cheese - Sunset Pub & Grill at Lincoln Park Airport; the soup is a must have, and the mac & cheese is a great meal
Hot dogs - Falls View Grill; but they seem to be adding too many varieties, and losing site of their original classics
Rigatoni in vodka sauce - Cosmo Bella's in Pequannock; my mom raves about it to anyone who asks

Nothing in the area comes close to my favorite style, hot, lots of sauce, and breaded bone-in wings like Bennigan's used to make before they destroyed them (and everything else apparently).
Wings Over Carlstadt is the best I've had in Northern NJ in recent memory. Wing Zone in Saddle Brook and Planet Wings in Garfield aren't bad. I haven't been to the Chicken & Rib Crib in Hawthorne, but I have gone to the one in Mahwah a few times. Their wings aren't bad, but not great. Are the ones in Hawthorne different or the same?
