1.Bagels Used to be Bagel Buffet in Secaucus - not so much anymore. Looking for a new favorite, but I sort of like this place on Hackensack Ave in Carlstadt... can't think of the name right now.

2.Mexican Pancho Burittos in New Milford and Three Chicas in Wyckoff. Bar none.

3.Pizza I like the Firehouse in Garfield. They are pretty good. I've had Brooklyn Pizza recently though (Brooklyn NY) and I can't go back.... they rock.

4.Steakhouse Hmmm... not too sure on this one. Alexus stinks now. I do like some, but think they are grossly overpriced. Steves Sizzling steaks is now hit or miss.

5.Ice Cream I'm a DQ girl, and I'm happy. LOL What is that place on 35 that we love? Can't think of the name, sorry!

6.Chinese I like Asian Grill in East Rutehrford

7.Seafood Lobster House Cape May, Sea Shack in Hackensack LOVE seafood.

8.Deli/Sub Shop DiRienzos in Little Ferry

9.Bakery B&W Bakery in Hackensack, Wyckoff Bakery

10.Burgers My kids love Johnny Rockets.

3.Pizza - I've never really had sucky pizza in NJ, so as long as it's not a famous chain, I'm happy. Locally, I like Roman Pizza in LV.

4.Steakhouse - NOT Arthur's, LOL. I had an awesome filet at Silver Spring Farm in Flanders once.

5.Ice Cream - There are a few that I like - Applegate Farms in Montclair (but haven't been in FOREVER), Taylor's in Chester

6.Chinese - Szechuan Royale in LV in Hastings Square - great Chinese food. Haven't been able to duplicate it elsewhere.

7.Seafood - yuk. every place sucks! LOL

8.Deli/Sub Shop - Gaetano's in Willingboro.

9.Bakery - ???

10.Burgers - The best burger I ever had was a restaurant in Bayonne called Burke's. They've been closed for 25 years. Haven't been able to find one nearly in the same ballpark anywhere in the country since.

I agree - Arthurs Sucks.

1.Bagels-Saddle River Road Hot Bagels, Fair Lawn

2.Mexican-Hacienda, Paterson (Honorable mention: El Norte in Lodi)

3.Pizza-Sore spot for me, as the best pizza in Bergen County, Bricks, is no more. Turvino's in Glen Rock is probably my favorite right now.

4.Steakhouse-River Palm, Mahwah/River Edge/Fair Lawn

5.Ice Cream- Applegate Farms, Montclair & a few other locations

6.Chinese- Chengdu 1, Cedar Grove

7.Seafood- Oceano's, Fair Lawn (Seafood Gourmet in Maywood also has a good tiny restaurant in their seafood store, and they're a lot cheaper than Oceano's).

8.Deli/Sub Shop- Hmm. Have to subdivide this one. Jewish Deli - Kosher Nosh, Glen Rock (Honorable mention for Petak's in Fair Lawn.) Italian Deli- Italian Riviera in Waldwick (Honorable Mention for La Strada in Midland Park)

9.Bakery-Have to subdivide again. Quality, where $$$ is not an object? Patisserie St. Michel in Teaneck. Best Bang for the Buck? Belmont Bakery in North Haledon. Many of the items in the new Fairway Market in Paramus have impressed me as well.

10.Burgers-Tough one. Can't think of any non-chains that have an incredible burger in this area. I like Five Guys' burgers.
Been dying to try Oceanos, now I'll check both these out - thanks!

It's right on Paramus Road....Fabulous lobster, it's a Spanish Restaurant, been there for ever..trust me
you will love it...It's very crowded on the weekends....Bakery....Love Carlo's in Hoboken, Giancarelli's
in Bloomfield...Calandra's in Fairfield or the new "Italian Village" in Caldwell on Bloomfield Ave. Pizza:
Just about any pizza parlour (not the chain ones, ie., Domino's Pizza hut, etc.) usually good. Deli's
Italian: Andrea's salumeria, Central Ave. Jersey City, near Manhattan Ave. Calandra's Italian Village has
good Italian food and pizza too......
Really, I think El Cid is very overrated. It's not bad, it's just pricey and not as good as I think people make it out to be. Ialways loved Carlos's in Hoboken, but it's not what it was 20 yrs ago. Andrea's in Jersey City though I agree w/ you on - great place.

Piast on River Drive in Garfield. Janek's on Monroe St. in Passaic. Great food, good prices.

I'm sure there are a ton of other places in Garfield and Wallington, but I'm not too familiar with other places.

I like El Cid and don't concider it pricey for the amount of food you get. I don't think it is the BEST out there but I do find it to be very good.

1.Bagels-Hot Bagels, Fair Lawn

2.Mexican- Mama Mexico in Englewood Cliffs

3.Pizza- Mario's in Maywood.

4.Steakhouse- Ruth Chris

5.Ice Cream-

6.Chinese- Panda in Lodi (take out only)

7.Seafood- Oceano's, Fair Lawn & Seafood Gourmet in Maywood

8.Deli/Sub Shop- Petrillo's in Northvale

9.Bakery-Lakeview in Clifton

10.Burgers- Toss up between the Iron Horse in Westwood and the Buter Family Diner - they both have fabulous stuffed burgers.

Japenese (Hibatchi) - Matsuya in Saddle Brook
