Location: Any shore town

The town only makes money three months out of the year, so the cops are ticket-crazed. The jersey shore is a police state from june-aug. They will treat you with no respect, and tack on violations for anything possible.

The resolution:
There is none. You are guilty from the moment the cop clicks his pen. No use fighting. Just pay the fine and suck it up.

I haven't had any issues. I don't break the law, so I don't have problems with police.
My husband is an aggressive driver. He has a tendancy to get tickets, but is skilled in going to court and getting them thrown out or at least reduced.

Lol...I don't break the law either and don't get pulled over a lot, but I'm usually trying to convince them that I'm one of the good guys when I am pulled over...

haha i got pulled over onve for being young and sriving an integra in hopatcong. i happened to have my old insurance card on top in my glovebox for some reason and i handed that to the officer. He goes to his car and comes back with a 200$ ticket for driving without insurance. I sit there confused saying what? i just handed you my card. He tells me its expired so i say oh, thats my old one heres my new one and hand it to him. but he was a !$#%^!#@$ and i got stuck with that ticket. i live in rockaway and only go to that area occasionaly yet ive gotten pulled over 4 or 5 times in that area and only once anywhere else. I have no other tickets. one time also in hopatcong i got pulled over for crossing the centerline to avoid a dog and was accused of drunk driving. officer dragged me out of car and made me do the sobriety tests and of course i passed them but i flipped out and actually made the cop apologize haha.

You should have went to court and explained to the judge what happened. I had the same thing happen to me in Bedminster last year, and when I showed up in court with the valid insurance card, they dropped the ticket and I only had to pay around $30 in court fees. You weren't "driving without insurance"- you weren't even "driving without proof of insurance"- you just got stuck in a system that won't let a cop void a ticket once it's written because they're all numbered and need to be accounted for.

The officer "dragged you from the car" and made you take a sobriety test. I wouldn't buy that, not for a nickle! I've been in law enforcement for thirty years and I can't remember ever pulling anyone over for just being young

brightmidnight will become famous soon enough
Two of my friends were driving from Bergen County to Pompton Lakes when they saw a driver that was massively drunk and swerving all over. They called the police, who didn't take her information and instead waited until they passed into another town to say, "well, now you're out of my jurisdiction. Call the next town" This happened three more times. No one wanted to get out from behind their desks and do their jobs! That story itself gives me NO faith in the NJ police to protect anyone. This woman was a complete danger and could have killed people.

Talking Find the positive

No, I have never had a "horrible experience w/ NJ Police"
I can only recall a few positive experiences.

One beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon, I was sitting at a red light, singing a funny song and WHAMMO, a dude (BTW: illegal Indian that later fled back to his country) driving a mini van (no license, no insurance) jumped the center median and slammed into my SUV- broadside. Nearly totaling my vehicle.
My 8 month pregnant belly went bouncing all over the interior. My head cracked the rear view mirror and my eyeglasses cracked. The Police Officer that pulled me out of the truck stayed with me the entire time and held my hand. I will never forget his face & his kindness. We all survived.
Thank god.

Another time, many years earlier, I sat in my home recovering from leg surgery. I was on crutches & all alone. I just fell asleep when I heard a metal clunk sound. It was the window screen & a man was trying to push it up to crawl into my home. I grabbed my crutch & the phone. Hello 911. They were there within minutes. The man ran away but I was safe & unharmed.

So please please choose your words after much thought & care. Not all NJ Police Officers are "bad". Many and I mean the majority of Officers are good people and they are here to protect & serve YOU.

God Bless the NJ Police Officer.
