Its sad that many beaches in different states get closed due to contamination.......
Towns have to work harder on this in all beach areas.

If you take the time to actually read this report it states that they combined closings and "health advisories" in that number so in reality there were not 3000 closings....additionally the report goes on to say that in fact beaches were closed only about 3% of the time.....not bad for over 1200 miles of beaches to look out for.......finally....there were no reports of "live" military artillary shells found on any Florida beaches as found on New Jersey beaches !!! Really makes you wonder what else is lurking in the surf at New Jersey beaches........ You also have to wonder why some are going out of their way to post negative information on Florida beaches when the OP topic was New Jersey beaches ???

Since I see you keep stating this exaggerated number, Florida has 663 miles of beaches not 1200 as you continue to claim.

Actually that number comes from Florida tourist commercials I see on TV.....but still.......how does that compare to the amount of New Jersey beaches.......maybe 10.....11...12 times as much .....and all FREE not to mention much less costly to rent there and enjoy ?
