Outlet Shopping in New Jersey
How would you say the outlet stores in Secaucus compare with shopping in a complex like Woodbury Common (which calls itself "Premium Outlets")? Particularly for women's clothing, shoes, and bags?

i would guess that secaucus doesnt compare to woodbury. the wife says nothing does. im looking at the directory and it looks like secaucus has decent food options. as a guy, thats the only thing i care about. that and i prefer an outdoor mall so i can take my dog to keep me company.

LOL! Thanks for that perspective! It never would have occurred to me to look at it that way, but those ARE important elements!

Woodbury Common without a doubt. You will get lost at Secaucus with all of their disjointed stores. Plus more NJ trash at Secaucus.

secaucus is like a flea market. Woodburry has every brand and it is a beautiful location too. It is THE outlet for tourists. But u will end up paying tax.

I remember shopping at Woodbury Commons ( years ago) and being taken aback at having to pay tax on the clothes I bought. Is Orange Cty one of the ones that did away with the local sales tax?

Get real. Neither of those areas are true outlets and haven't been so for years.
At one time the Secaucus outlets were true subsidiaries of the attached warehouse. Today for the most part they are all nothing more than retail stores attempting to fool the shoppers into believing they are something they are not. Years back Secaucus had an ordinance mandating that the "outlet" have a certain amount of warehouse space attached and that the warehouse was to be the vast majority of the operation. Enforcement ended when the outlet system died and they became retail stores.
One of the largest Group USA does nothing more than resell clothing they buy from manufacturers. They produce and wholesale nothing. You can do just as well by shopping retail.

The Secaucus Outlets were among the oridinal outlet stores. Warehouses of merchandise whereas those goods were sold to the public out of the front of the buildings retail space.
Woodbury is the modern day outlet center more set up for convenience.
You can get information on outlet centers across the country at www.efactoryoutlets.com

secaucus is very disjointed as someone mentioned. woodbury will kill you in taxes on clothes. if it's not too far, you can go to The Crossings in Tannersville. Not as big a Woodbury, but no tax. Also I hear the outlets near New Hope PA are good as well (can't remember their name).
