NJ has the second highest amount of police officers per capita.
I have no problems with Citys having a lot of police, but does a middle class town of 15,000 really need 30 police officers? It's ridiculous. cant drive down the street for 5 minutes without seeing a cop.

I could not agree more. Let me add some more insult to injury. This rough economy now has checkpoints all over the place to ticket drivers with a failed inspection sticker. What a way to increase revenues. God forbid they should tighten their own belts like everyone else. And they wonder why many in general have negative opinions of the police.

I agree with some of what you said except dare is a grant funded by the state, once the funding is gone so is the cop. Anyway alot of towns looked into regionalization and found it didn't save that much money. They did the same with the garbage and the same outcome. I would rather spend a little more of my tax dollar and know the cop was in my town and not 20 miles away in another.

This is being dictated by the towns to drum up revenue
cop is only doing what his employer tells him to do...you need to show up at a council meeting to voice your concerns

the old car was only 3 years

By that time the car has a hundred thousand miles. You AH's are the same ones that would be screaming that where were the cops when your house gets broken into one day. Typical NJ moron. I got tagged so they are no good. No wonder the state is the laughing stock of the county. What kind of idiot measures the need based on population? How does that take into account the commercial areas. I guess Paramus needs only 20 or so because I'm sure that the malls don't add to their crime problems.
Don't be happy that you see those guys on the street and the crime rate is low. DEMAND a high crime rate. Let's hope the town sees a few murders and rapes this year. Then you can sit back and smile.

Actually the state police patrol our towns so they are not responding from miles away but locally.......and in my opinion the state police are far more professional than any local force.

Scalz, Unfortunately there are plenty of idiots on this forum. They are most likely the ones that complain about speeders all the time then complain about the cops giving speeding tickets.
