Default Union City???

I've heard good things about this town which is half an hour drive from my new job in Wayne and easy accessto NYC. I'm also looking at Montlcair but these two sems to be very different. Any advice about Union City will be appreciated. I'll be looking for a two bedroom, a decent elementary school, and around $1500 rent.

thanks

more cubans per square mile than Havana. Its almost like The Cuban Ironbound of Hudson County. Its not exactly nice looking, but its not a very dangerous neighborhood. Just very urban. Lots to do during the day and incredible restaurants. For nightlife you could just get a dollar bus into Jersey City or a dollar bus to NYC. ITs very convienent. And the rents will always stay pretty stationary for now on because its a community owned city and is most likely not going to be gentrified. However Montclair is going to have much better schools. IM not sure if this is the real reason why, but because alot of the students are immagrants and dont speak english SAT scores in Union City will ofcaurse be lower. That doesn't really say anything about the schools though. I looked at renting in Union City before. You could get some pretty good deals there too. But as far as schools, Montclair is way better.

Yeah, I am not sure about Union City. I really don't think the schools are that good. Don't get me wrong I love going there to get food and walk around I feel safe when I go there with my family, but I don't think I would live there. Montclair I would think has the best of both worlds they have their Main Street and probably better schools. Have you thought about living in Wayne? They have nice apartments there on Valley Road, Manchester, Manchester II, Brooklawn. Brittney Chase on Berdan has nice apartments also. I lived in North Bergen on Blvd. East and 86th street in some very nice garden apartments. But as soon as I had my kids I left and came back to Wayne. That area was fun for my young and single days. Good luck.

Default union city

What do you mean by "community-owned city"? I'm looking for information about gentrification and resistence to it in Union City. Any help you can offer is appreciated very much.

what i meant was that most of the buisness's there are owned by people who actually live in Union City. This is why Union City will probably not be gentrified anytime soon. Not to say it wont be a little bit. A good sign that it wont be is that it hasnt been. Understand? Union City is in a prime location for Yuppies to come in and just eat it up. But they havnt. And they see that it is a prime location but that no one is taking it. This is why Union City is great. It will most definatley always be a community based city.
