NJ Unemployment extentions
I have exhausted my original 26 weeks. Was qualified for the additional 13 weeks and that has now too been exhausted. Is there anything left to get from NJ unemployment? If so will it be an automatic notification like last time?

There is a tier two that is 20 weeks. It should just start. When did your tier one end?

There are currently 4 levels of unemployment benefits in New Jersey:
(1) Initial unemployment benefits (UB - 26 weeks)
(2) Emergency unemployment benefits Tier I (EUC Tier I - 20 weeks)
(3) Emergency unemployment benefits Tier II (EUC Tier II - 13 weeks)
(4) Extended benefits (EB - 20 weeks)
The EB level has more stringent eligibility requirements than the first three levels have.
All of this is explained at the website:
http://lwd.dol.state.nj.us/labor/ui/content/UIExtendedBenefitProgram.html
According to this list, your Tier I extension (the first extension) should have been for 20 weeks -- not 13 as you state. Did you get the Tier I extension of 20 weeks, and then the Tier II extension of 13 weeks? If so, you may or may not be eligible for the fourth level -- Extended Benefits (EB).
Any specific questions you have about your own eligibility really should be directed to the reps at unemployment who can evaluate you records and make the necessary adjustments.

Anybody hearing anything for those about to run out in Aug at end of EB? Thousands of us are about to run out while there are more and more unemployed every month. I have been looking doing a frantic search so much I think I am too freaked out to get a job.

There is nothing "officially" scheduled or in the works after EB... as of yet. There has been some speculation in these forums. One person said their local branch of unemployment told them of a program under development while others have asked and was told by the state " we never heard of that" or " there is nothing more" so at this point i would not count on anything. Even if there is something after EB, these things have to go in front of congress, etc and take time It would be a while before anything like that went into effect.
Since your eb is about to run out, you will not see any checks until a program is introduced, put in front of congress, signed and on top of that, you qualify for their (most likely) more strict qualification rules.
of course, I can be totally wrong and a program comes out in a week that anyone on EB gets but that is wishful thinking. I hope it does happen.
If you are about to run out, like tons of others, you simply will not get checks anymore until a new program is introduced ( and you actually qualify. EB was much more strict than tier 1 and 2 so we can only assume that all the people who need more after eb, will get even more regulations to qualify ). This is a first time in a while that nothing is lined up after the current extension. People have gotten used to:
tier 1 being announced while still on regular claim,
hearing about tier 2 while still on teir 1,
hearing about eb while still on tier 2.
now, for people on EB, there is nothing lined up. It is rough out there for sure and people need help but they have to draw the line somewhere. The big question is if this is the time to cut it off or keep it going. Believe me, I know how bad it is out there. There are jobs available but most of them pay minimum or close to minimum wage and the amount you can make is less than what unemployment pays in most cases. Based on the rules of NJ unemployment, you dont need to accept any job that has a gross weekly pay of equal to or less than what you are collecting. The problem with that is, if you pass up these undesirable jobs and wait for eb to run out, you will have nothing. Maybe people should start considering taking anything because when EB ends, minimum wage will be better than zero right? I, personally, am trying to find something decent. certainly not what I was used to making. Much less actually. I lowered my expectations/desired salary substantially but Im trying to avoid a minimum wage job. Im even looking into all kinds of careers now. Being fixed on 1 industry while collecting long enough to get to the EB level is definitely not realistic unfortunately. Its not only the money you make but getting health insurance is real important too.

TheHill.com - Congress moves to extend unemployment benefits
This is for people who are nearing the end, or have already exhausted their SEB.
Congress will vote on this in early September, hopefully benefits will be approved by late Sept, early October.

Just FYI -- I have posted the latest information on the most recently proposed extension of unemployment benefits on a new thread:

lou you do not qualify as of now if you call UI they will tell you exactly why.
EUC ends this year no one can start a new tier of EUC in 2010 unless the laws are changed. There is a godd chance the laws willbe changed but as of today it hasn't.
I understand the stress your going through but asking the same question 10 times all over the forum is not going to change anything I have told you on many threads already the answer but you continue posting the same question.
DEEP BREATHES NOW EXHALE AND REPEAT...
Call your local Rep and ask them to extend EUC into 2010 now. That is the 1st step in getting EUC extended.
