Default Ocean Gate

Hi! I have seen some houses online in Ocean Gate. They seem nice, and well priced. Too good to be true. What is wrong with this picture? Thanks!

I believe you purchase the house in Ocean Gate by the land remains with the Methodist church as its owner.

I think your confusing Ocean Gate with Ocean Grove, Ocean Grove is noted as a Methodist retreat camp. It is home to the great auditorium (most excellent for concerts) and also has canvas roof bungalows (1 room) where people go to vacation in the summer (no A/C). I don't believe there are any liquor stores there and I know until a few years ago automobiles were not allowed. I'm not sure if it is still considered a dry town. It is a beautiful place to go around Christmas time (am I allowed to say CHRISTMAS?) especially close to the beach where homes are decorated in a beautiful way. I know that homes in Ocean Grove frequently sell in excess of 1 million dollars. I don't think thats true for Ocean Gate. Hope this helps

Nothing WRONG with Ocean Gate. The houses are relatively older. But it has nothing do with methodist.

That's my take, too. I like Ocean Gate- it's sort of tucked out of the way from hectic Bayville and Route 9, and it's got a neat feel to it.

It really is a nice area. The waterfront is VERY nice. The police do a GREAT job in the town. Very comfortable feeling to it. A little busier in the summer, but not bad at all really.

This is a smaller town, near water east of/thru Bayville. Lots of older homes,
close together. Not real Great...most of those nice homes your seeing for sale, are next door to the rundown ones. You'll get the 'picture' when
u go visit! Ocean county is great! Lots of better places in county!

OG is a pretty little town. However, the administration have been part of the OG culture which includes avoiding holding locals responsible to maintain, clean and enhance the presence of their properties. This unfortunately gives a poor presence to those passing through considering purchasing in our town.
I continue to work on administation hearing the voice of the citizens who expect to live in a community that is clean safe and beautiful, of which the later OG truly is.

At one time, we were looking at Ocean Gate. I like you, saw some great little houses online with reasonable price tags and this was before the real estate bust. When we drove through it, it seemed kind of crummy. Like a pp said, one house was nice but its neighbor's home was really shoddy.
Good luck!
