Freehold Boro Parents (elem age)
Hello
I am considering a home in both the Boro and Town. I have heard mixed reviews about Park Elem which is where one house is zoned for.
I dont have a kid yet but we plan on having one in two years. I do care if my future child will attend a decent school.
Moms -
Do you like your Boro elementary school?
Do you feel your kid is getting a good education.
I have searched the threads and all that seems to come up is "The boro is bad" and many saying because of how hispanic it is which is something I dont care about as long as the school, classes and community is good. I would prefer some real information on if you like the school and why.
Thanks for the help. The other house we are looking at is in the township but we prefer the boro house.

I've heard the same things you have. I don't know if they are valid or not. Did you try Allentown or Robbinsville too?

We want to be in the Freehold area and it fits within our budget. We have narrowed it down to two houses in Freehold so we dont plan to look in Robbinsville or Allentown

I can give you feedback on Applegate Elem, Eisenhower Middle School, and Freehold Boro HS, but not the Boro elementary schools. The way my friends explained it to me was that everyone went to Park Ave, and those that tested well enough, went to TLC. I'm not sure if that's accurate or not though. When playing sports against Park Ave, it was definitely a rough team and the parents got out of control and started fighting so I wouldn't say it's the best school. I also can't speak to crime in the area as I've been out of Monmouth County for 5 years now, but it used to be a safe town. If you like the Boro house better, I'd go for the Boro house. If you feel your child is not getting a good education, then you can spend some time at home with workbooks helping him/her. I know it's not the best answer, but I definitely think someone should encourage you to go with the house your gut is telling you. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Thank you
The problem is we really adore both houses for different reasons, but the Township schools may push us into one over the other. If not just for future resale.
We are going to try and look into it more. We are just glad to have found two houses we like

The difference between Boro elementary schools and Twp. elementary schools is like night and day. If you found a house in the Twp. that you like, it's really a no-brainer.
We moved out of the Boro when my youngest was ready for school. I love the town, and would have stayed otherwise. I have a dear friend who decided to stick it out only to pull her daughter out of the school in first grade and put her in private school.
Check out the school report cards and compare. They will tell you a lot.
Good luck!

If the schools are the deciding factor, then I'd have to side with the Township. I live in the boro, and like it alot, and like what the boro has to offer. But I have to admit that I send my kids to St. Rose.

I always look at the website schoolmatters.com to see what the statistics for the schools are. Did you consider Howell?

We havent been able to find a house that works for house in Howell.
We love these two houses, but not sure we can get the township one down to our price. We can probably get the Boro one. We dont even have kids yet but plan to in the next 2 years or so. Which means our kid wont even go to school for years, but were thinking of the future.
