A friend of mine is relocating down south (his wife was transferred). He however works for a small company so he won't be able to get transferred. He's worried about not having a job at all when he moves. So he asked me if he would be able to collect unemployment from nj if he can't find a job down south. I have no idea. any thoughts?

only if he is laid off from his company. if he leaves on his own volition, he will not be able to collect.

I just got laid off -well 20percent of the workforce did- -AFTER 13 yrs of loyal service as production mng in a large cable assembly house-

3 months severance pay and benefits and "thanks for your service"

NJ pays (you can ck this out) the highest unemployment wages in the country, plus the 50 bucks from Obama,s stimulus plan. Im not doing horrible everything considered, but soon to be 52 yrs old , to start all over is not what I had in mind --

Im sorry I forgot your question
But jobs are not plentiful- as unemployment is almost 10 percent up here

best regards,
ceffo

When we moved here from NJ my husband already had a job. I put in for unemployment in NJ, but was denied because I moved of my own free will.
