Anyone ever deal with a HIT AND RUN accident? Had my first..
Scary!!!
*hopefully last!* My husband was pulling into a rest stop off Parkway..........needed to get gas...........some guy started to back out *very fast* and hub blew horn......idiot never stopped!!! bashed right into front of our car!!
Husband tried to talk to the jerk...and then the moron DENIED it right in front of our eyes...that he didn't even HIT us!!! wth!!!!!
Thank God for witnesses!! called NJ SP and came out...trooper was very nice...but did say he could come forward and say it was someone else driving, yada yada.....but will write him for leaving scene of accident.......automatic 10 point violation!!!!!
Is it 11 points in NJ and you lose your license? We just want justice!! He had no regard for anyone in this matter...used many explitives while my kids were in the back of the car! (thank God they were asleep!).......
Anyone else have a hit and run? How could people leave the scene of an accident!! I cannot imagine doing that ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw a hit and run in an intersection right in front of me. A girl ran a light and clipped a car then sped off. My powers of observation were not great as I didn't get a plate or even the make/model of the car, just the color.
But.... then karma stepped in... the girl's front license plate was knocked off in the collission and was lying in the middle of the street. The cops had an easy time taking it from there.

Welcome to "I'm the victim and not the cause" attitude with too many in this country these days. It sadly applies to every facet of life, even marriages/relationships.

Socks did you just tell us some one smashed into your car and your kids were in the back seat still sleeping? I bet many parents wish their kids can sleep that hard.
How much damage? Even with insurance, victims like yourself end up still having to lay out money. There should be zero deductable for hit and run.
Some one hit me once in Colonia and took off so I took off after them. I against my better judgement called the piggies and they told me to back off. I refused the dispatchers powerless orders. That crazy lady was just driving too nuts trying to get away from me so I did end up backing off. Insurance paid but I had to lay out the $200 deductable. That's no fair. But nothing is fair in this world is it......

What gives you the right to put others in danger because of property damage? If someone was injured due to your stupidity, were you going to fall back on the crumpled fender. You should have received the violation for Reckless Operation and cried in court.
Moderator cut: no personal attacks But it was nice that you documented you violation on a taped line.

The Dispatcher had more brains then you ever will. But it was nice that you documented you violation on a taped line.

You are proving our point. Your temper is going to get you in some trouble that you will not be able to call backup on.

I was sitting at a gas pump getting gas one day when the guy getting gas in front of me put his car in reverse and hit the gas. He slammed into the front of my car so hard it knocked the nozzle from the gas tank spilling gas everywhere, my bumper cover was on the ground, my drivers headlight smashed, he stuck his head out of the window and yelled sorry, then drove off as if nothing happened. THANKFULLY the gas station had security cameras. Not only was he on the suspended list but he had no ins either (according to my ins co) I still had to pay $500 deductible and when it came time to renew my ins policy, they dropped me.

RR, that droppage sounds suspect, unless you are not telling us everything here (maybe they upped the rate?)
The thing is, there are more H+R incidents in NJ primarily because of the insurance. Being as expensive as it is (hearing the poor poor insurance companies whine about it being so expensive to insure in NJ....BS) many either do not want to report something for fear of their insurance ratyes doubling for 3 years, OR tehy simply do not have insurance!
I just saw one the other day. The wonam backed out of a parking spot out near us, diagonal parking. She krunked the side of the mustang next to her, pulled back in, got her friend out, pulled BACk out and took off.
I memorize the plate #, wrote the info on a card and placed the card in a sandwich bag in the car window. Hopefully this person has to pay the bill and does not leave this guy with some nasty looking scratches down the side of the car.....

One time a friend of mine returned from shopping, and found the passenger side door dented in so badly that it couldn't be opened. On the windshield there was a note. It said something along the lines of: "There are a lot of people right now looking at me, thinking I am writing down my name, insurance and contact information. Well, I'm not." In other words, he was giving the illusion that he was being an honest citizen.
