That's about the only thing I see in NJ - a lot of whiners who whine about the state but don't have the brains to leave, if it's so bad here. There arer 49 other states out there, folks, so if NJ is not pleasing you then feel free to go someplace that is more to your liking. Just don't stick around here whining, please.

I think you illustrate my point by implying that anyone who criticizes this state has no brains.

To say BCJ illustrates your point is an understatement. In the midst of his assault on those who choose to discuss social issues, one of which is the premiss that New Jerseyan's may have excessive sensitivities to "snap", BCJ himself snaps, crackles, and pops! Case closed.

Maybe its the media that has everyone on the edge of their seats waiting for the next crisis. Will the day come when people once again act civil to each other in NJ?
Anyone else finding this more and more in NJ?

I'm only 1.5 seconds from losing it so I can't help you.

So beside criticizing on a message board, what do you do to effect real change? Constructive criticism directed in the right place is one thing, but whining, playing a victim role and debating with "corslime has to go" accomplishes nothing. (not saying you particularly do this)
There is NO WAY to have a civil debate on the "state of the state" here. I've been here long enough to know it gets nowhere, because far too many people think name calling and derogatory slams are valid debate tactics. And what a shame.

You asked me a direct question so I will give you a direct answer. I do environmental work that cleans up some of the most polluted sites in the state, as well as other states. The pay is low, but I do this because one of the most important issues for me in NJ is improving the natural environment.
I'm not a left wing nut or a capitalist pig. I'm trying to better this most densely populated state. The point of my post is that I notice that people around here are becoming increasingly short fused. To me, its sad. And that is my opinion.

I was born and raised in Jersey, so I know Jersey quite well. Let me assure you that, back in 1999, when the economy was a strong as it could ever be, the people were still total pricks and even then they were loud, rude, and IN YOUR FACE for no reason.
I have never seen a group of people as easily offended as Jerseyians. Stratch your head around here and someone will get within two inches of your face and scream, in that horable Jersey accent: "HEY! WHATCHA' DOIN' STRACHIN' YOUR HEAD 'ROUND ME FOR!? YOU KNOW WHO I AM? I'M ANDY FIGGEROLI! YOU GOTTA PROBLEM 'WIT ANDY FIGGEROLI!?"
Majority of people who call this state home are rude, loud, easily offended, overly emotional, and someohow manage to be egotistical while having no sense of shame in their awful behavior.
I think I know what the cause of the problem is, but it is so politically incorrect to say that my message will be deleted if I come out and say what everyone is thinking. I will only say that a large portion of the people in this state, as well as other awful states in the North East, are the descendants of people who, in the last century, came to America from a certain place in Europe...
Fortunately, I will be leaving soon, and I will be in the Pacific North West with a more civilized population.

When I first went to the AC casinos 20 years ago, I thought NJ people were the biggest A Holes around. This was from the complete lack of courtesy and friendliness the casino workers displayed. But for the last 10 years or so, especially the last 5, they've become much more friendly, courteous and professional. I can't really come down on NJ anymore for unfriendliness or uptight attitudes. They're still the worst drivers around though.
NJ has been through some rough times lately with bad government and its had a negative effect on their economy and people are worried. But thats the same in many places.

It's just common sense. If all you can do is whine about how bad the state is overall, then it's foolish for you to continue living there. It's also ignorant to single out NJ as having certain problems which are not at all unique to the state.
Lower taxes - that would make NJ better? Not if it translates to reduced services. Honest politicians would be an improvement anywhere; is anyone so naive as to believe that there can be a place where all the politicians are honest? Where is this place? Same goes for "less angry people"; what kind of drugs does a person take to think that any one state has significantly "less angry people" than another???
And how does anyone figure that "everyone is ready to snap in NJ"??? What I honestly believe is that you have propensity to over-generalize and you tell people your negative, prejudicial over-generalizations. Then, when people get the slightest bit defensive (surprise surprise), you think "Wow, man, another angry person ready to snap!"
I think you should lay off the Phish food - you know, the narcotic type.

Not only have I heard of road rage, but I've seen it. In New Jersey. And Texas. And New York. And California, Indiana, Vermont, Connecticut, New Mexico, Nevada, Alberta, and other states and provicnces.
Yeah, don't bother pointing out other examples that are not at all unique to New Jersey, because it definitely is waste of time.

I was born and raised in NJ and I still live here. Your post reflects a bigoted stereotype which is not true at all. You obviously hate the state and want to leave so you are bashing the state. You're not the first, and you won't be the last whiner to say such things. Then there are your racist implications, which identify you as a bigot.
Why are you still in NJ, anyway? Is it a job? Is it something else that you are as of yet unable to get in the Pacific Northwest?
Anyway, enjoy the Pacific Northwest. The people there are not uptight, they have all day to ask you for change or food or whatever else, and they're pretty mellow even if you say no; they just won't give up, though. If you join their ranks, there's no reason you can't leave tomorrow.
NJ will be a much finer state when the malcontents leave so nobody has to hear their whining.

So disagreement means someone is "ready to snap"??? Wow. Maybe it's not that New Jerseyans are "ready to snap", but that in NJ there is a minority of over-sensitive, prejudiced critics who want to criticize and whine but don't want anyone else to voice an opinion if it's in disagreement; and someone disagrees, he's labeled as someone who "snaps, crackles, and pops!" Weak.
