Out of curiosity, why are taxes so high when CH has that giant mall? Shouldn't the mall make the tax burden lower on the homeowners?

I've often wondered the exact same thing. And the mall isn't even the beginning of it! The retail/business development in Cherry Hill is like nothing I've seen anywhere - more and more stores, shopping centers and businesses open every year and yet the taxes never go down.

I live in Cherry Hill and I love it. I work in South Philly and I am at work in 20 minutes, door to door. Yes, traffic sucks on Rt.70/38, etc... but we have tons of resources which is why.
The two things I DON'T like about Cherry Hill is lack of really good restaurants (they are all chains) and the taxes. Collingswood, a 5 minute drive satisfies my restaurant needs as well as Philadelphia being very close by.
Sassy: Your house is beautiful. Are you moving out of Cherry Hill or just to another location within CH.
Good Luck!

There's a pretty cool area on Rt. 70 that's almost like a little mini-downtown, there's an Italian grocery, a newsstand, a Jewish deli, a bike shop, and some other unique businesses there. Other than that it's fairly typical suburbia.

There's a lot of good eats in Cherry Hill. The new town center is going to have upscale dining options. There are a number of good restaurants in Voorhees, including a great Thai place I sometimes go to. That area doesn't hurt for anything.

New Town Center has
Pei Wei
PotBellys
Chee Burger
Chick-Fil-A
Peace a Pizza
Panera Bread
Baja Grill
Wegmans
Brios
Cheescake Factory
Mccormick & Scmit
Houlihans
Other steak/seafood place.
ALL CHAINS expect for the pizza place (Don't consider a 3-4 location place a chain) And none of those options are good. Well Wegmans can be fun for a quick bite. But really it is sad that better places didn't get into that shopping center.

Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant - Select a location for menus, reservations and hours
Buca di Beppo just opened its Cherry Hill location, it is the only location in the entire state.
Cherry Hill has unique restaurants like Norma's Middle Eastern in Barclay Farms, Star's on Rt 70, Maurya's in Greentree, Nonna's on Berlin Road. There's a lot in Cherry Hill you just have to look around.

And it is a BAD Italian chain...
And I was just referring to Garden State Park new development. Yes there are good restaurants all over the area. Just not at the Garden State Park center.
Problem with Cherry Hill is it is HUGE.

4 years is nothing for an area as old and established as CH. The point is it is a vibrant place. To say there are only chain restaurants around there is not accurate. It has a ton of chains because it has 80,000+ residents.

JUST OPENED makes it seem like it JUST OPENED. Where I am pretty sure it opened back in 2003 or so. You made it seem like it was not there last month by saying it JUST opened.
Once again I am referring to CHAINS soley in regards to Garden State Park Retail center where it is 99% CHAINS and bad ones to boot.
I just prefer the smaller town vibe with local cuisine and local chefs.
