Describe Cherry Hill
Please describe the Cherry Hill area for me. I live in metro Atlanta, where its all about a mix of sunbelt sprawl with strip malls and multi-laned arterials along with some older established pockets.
I'm also used to ethnic restaurants (and people) from all over the world in the Atlanta suburbs (Ethiopian to Lebanese to Cantonese to Bangladeshi to authentic Mexican) etc. Will I be able to feel at home in the Cherry Hill and/or surrounding areas.

Cherry Hill is the main suburban town outside in NJ from phila. If someone heard of a town in south jersey, it's cherry hill. The houses range from 20ish years old to almost historic. It's fairly diverse being near Camden and Phila. Some neighborhoods are very white, others have jews asians and other ethnics. Major roads are Kings highway which will take u anywhere but with trafficlights, same as Church rd, 38 and 70. The traffic is heavy rushhour but plenty of alternatives. There is the Cooper River which is popular for walking, bbq, kayak, fireworks. There are about 5 hospitals that serve the area. A mall that attracts out of towners. Several towns border Cherry hill so your life will vary where u live there. Schools are always top with plenty of opportunity for curricular. The sister town is Voorhees. I never been to Atl but it's older than Atl, but also sprawled. There is no downtown or center of town in cherry hill.

In Cherry Hill you'll find some ethnic restaurants (Indian, Vietnamese, Moroccan, Lebanese, German, Chinese, Thai, Korean), but the diversity you had in AG is not in Cherry Hill. Fortunately, you will have that diversity in Camden, Philadelphia and other adjacent places. In Camden there are Dominican, several authentic Mexican regional variants, Vietnamese, etc. In nearby Philadelphia there is Ethiopian, Eritrean, Nigerian, Senegalese, Ivorian, Indonesian, Burmese, Afghan, Persian, basically anything you would ever want. In the circum-Phila/South Jersey metropolitan area you will find people of any and all ethnic persuasions.

CHerry Hill? Nothing but traffic and endless strip malls. I avoid this cesspool. In fact, if you have a choice, I'd advise you to avoid all of New Jersey, speaking as someone who lives there. For one thing, you'll lose a shocking amount of money in taxes and much higher insurance rates. Then there's the endless sprawl and congestion and complete lack of natural beauty (in south NJ). Just flat, swampy land. And NJ beaches, which you're forced to pay a fee to go on, are not all that great.

I live in Cherry Hill and it is ludicrous to call it a "cesspool". Here's my house (currently for sale) in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Cherry Hill:
And here are some other photos of Cherry Hill:

Cooper River Park
Cherry Hill is a suburb of Philadelphia. A good percentage of the neighborhoods were built in the 1960s - 1970s, but there are also older neighborhoods (like mine), and newer ones. Most of Cherry Hill is solidly middle class. There are some wealthier parts, mostly on the east side.
Yes, there's lots of traffic, and property taxes are high. Other than that, it's a fantastic place to live. Safe, clean, easy to get everywhere (esp. Phila), TONS of excellent shopping and restaurants. Great schools. Oh and Cherry Hill has the nicest library I've ever set foot into.
If it wasn't for the property taxes, we wouldn't be moving.
Oh, and as for the "ugly" New Jersey beaches, here's a photo of my favorite beach - Island Beach State Park - which is pretty much a straight drive east from Cherry Hill (and yes, it really does look like this)

Harold and Kumar drive all the way the Cherry Hill from Hoboken to go to white castle. What a couple of idiots. They should have just driven to Union City or North Bergen. They must have passed 30 on the way there!

Cherry Hill rocks, one of the best towns in America, in fact, rated in the Top 50 by Money. It's got everything you possibly ask for including a new town center concept under construction. The only downside I can think of is taxes, they are very high, but you get your money's worth, epecially with the quality of the schools.

I like areas OUTSIDE Cherry Hill but the traffic in Cherry Hill and the amount of highways turns me off a tad. But I love Collingswood/Westmont/Haddonfield area. Is NJ perfect? Nope. Is it better than many places? Yep.
