Magnolia, New Jersey
During the 50's and 60's, I grew up in Magnolia on Evesham Avenue and can remember very vividly the trucks dumping on King Street. Since that time several people in my family and several residents of that area have had some form of cancer. Therefore, I am currently doing a search to find out if there is a link between the dumping and the cancer. During those years there was very little enviromental regulations and I am having a difficult time trying to find any source of information regarding the dumping. If anyone has any information please post a response and if there is anyone who has any kind of suggestion on how to go about finding information and/or where to look please forward that information. Thanks.

Magnolia
Magnolia is a New Jersey DEP Tier One Radon Zone as is its neighbor, Somerdale. I am a New Jersey DEP licensed radon specialist and I can tell you that my 20+ years experience in testing and mitigation of homes with excessive levels that both these towns have radon concerns.......just North of King Street is a fairly new development which Edwards Avenue runs through where I have tested levels amost 10 times the safe level and teh same with other streets in Somerdale just South of King Street. I have no knowledege of the "dumping" of which you speak but I can tell you that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. It would be wise to test your basement to see what your levels are.......you can buy testing kits at Home Depot or Lowes.

Radon
I can't speak to the incidence of cancer in your specific location.....I can tell you that according to EPA/DEP date that radon specifically causes lung cancer. You might wish to try your county health department for further information on cancer incidence in your location ?

So... any thoughts on Magnolia as a location for a young newly wed interracial couple that plans to have kids? We've lived in Cherry Hill West our entire lives and now we're off to start our own lives.
Crime, school system, and resale at a later date are big factors for us.
