Anyone saw the Real Housewives of NJ?
I am just wondering...what do y'all think about the show in terms of the perception of your state? The actual real housewives of your state?
Just curious.

This was the first series of the show I watched, and although I enjoyed it, let's face it. These women were cast based on the typical Soprano stereotypes, most likely because the producers knew that it would mean big ratings (and it did).
Franklin Lakes is an extremely wealthy town. Most women there are college graduates, and far more "genteel" than the women portrayed on the show. And there are many towns just like Franklin Lakes in the Northeast quadrant of NJ.
When Bravo does the Real Housewives of Connecticut (which is probably coming), you'll probably see women more representative of the typical affluent suburban NJ housewife.

That's a good summary, I mostly agree.
The only thing is that if these women were truly more like the "Sopranos" stereotype, I wouldn't mind it so much; but they're not. They definitely TRIED to act out the stereotype, but they fail miserably, although I'm sure they fool most of the nation. The worst is that dumpy, ugly, short-haired fat one, the one who always talks about her "family", always "the family", to give it that mafioso style, and her tough talk and "family before all", and her fake accent. She's just an ugly pig with a nouveau-riche husband, just like her hooker-esque sisters.
Those are stupid people, but that can be said for every "housewives" show; they never represent their states positively.

Since my recent move to NC from NJ, I am constantly asked if the women in NJ are really like the Real Housewives of NJ...... yeah thanks, it's not like we already didn't have a bad rap to begin with.
