What upsets me the most about New Jersey's jury process is all the personal, ID stealing info they request on the juror form - and we're supposed to DROP IT IN THE MAIL??? This is so old school and dangerous.

For those who don't know, here's what they want the person to write on the form and drop in any mailbox:

- home phone number
- work phone number
- social security number
- date of birth
- employer name
- occupation
- drivers license number
- AND they even have our signature

And of course my name and address are already typed in.

THIS IS ABSURD. Just think about how many people (whose hands will touch the juror reply form) will know EXACTLY what is inside. Anybody in the chain can steal our identity.

I am sure many people are following these instructions without giving it any thought. But requiring us to provide that info on a mail form should violate privacy guidelines somewhere.

I'm going to write a letter to the Governor and copy a bunch of other folks. Join in and write a letter too. A lot of people in the court are asleep at the wheel here.

I suggest leaving the personal info blank. I did not fill it in the last time I got the form and I didn't get any flack.

As a side note, I live in Camden County. I do not know if all jury summons are alike.

Don't forget to take the juror poll above.

Tahiti, if it is the same in every county, you will see it all printed on the form if you ever get a summons.

Thanks for the feedback Tahiti. I wonder if since you were last summoned years ago, did anything change - for the worse.

When I write to the Governor, I will be certain to include a copy of the juror summons.

Have a great holiday.

The Governor? Hmm, I don't think this Governor is interested in hearing what the regular people of NJ have to say.

Thanks for the comments. Seems I might live in a seriously demented county. I'm going to focus on Camden County in my letter to the Governor and Camden County officials.

captne76, of course he doesn't care. I will send a copy to the media also. That should bring some response. Media will probably be interested.
