Perth Amboy has a history of being sort of an edgey place. It was never really BAD, but it started to deterrirorate a in the 70s and 80s. I've been back recently and the place looks much better. It's alive again, there are people out on the streets, and new construction is happening once again. This town has become a popular place for the Hispanic community to settle, and I believe they make up a majority of the city's population. I find Perth Amboy to be a nice town. It still has seedy elements in spots, and its reputation from years past still haunts it, but the main streets are active and feel very safe to me, and the waterfront is a very nice part of town.

I've been there twice in the last 2 years. Someone who has been into the town more frequently and knows it better might be able to give you more information.

Thank you very much. How is the Perth Amboy train station ? Does it have a good car park facility? Any idea?

I would be really curious to know more about its crime myself and what parts people should avoid moving into. I have read a lot about its revitalization so it definately seems promising but I am still unsure...

I can't speak to the specifics of Perth Amboy, but understand that a lot of those revitalization projects were contingent on the real estate bubble which has now gone poof.
