I am hardly on this site anymore due to people from all over the country bashing our state.
Worry about your own state with their set of problems.
...just really annoyed!
Shanny
The only thing that outnumbers the out of state New Jersey bashers is the bashers that live in New Jersey. I doubt its the out of state bashers that annoy you......I suspect its the frustration of realizing what they say is true and theres no way to correct all the problems New Jersey has ?

No, it definitely IS the out-of-state bashers that annoy. And the funny thing is: the reason it annoys is b/c most of the stuff they is NOT true.
NJ'ans can bash their own state because we live here. I may not agree with you but at least we're in the same boat for the most part.
But someone from another state/region starts saying things when his/her last visit was encompassed by a landing in Newark airport and a NJ turnpike whisk into NYC (or an episode of Sopranos). That just doesn't give them to proper tools to start bashing the entire state.
Furthermore, the thing that also dogs me out is that some of the out-of-state folks that bash are from states that I forgot existed. They have a lot of time and energy to think about NJ but their regions might as well be called 'Nowhere, USA'
My parents, who don't live in the US now, but who both born here, started laughing out loud when I said I was considering moving to NJ. They stopped laughing when they realized I was serious. My Mom said it was a "troubling development" and my Dad got very quiet and sounded like he would rather talk about anything but New Jersey.
No the plate does not make the state....BUT......when people from out of state see that plate and how lifeless is it compared to plates from other states it sends the message that our state is lifeless. Is this actually the case? Of course not...but looking at that plate one can surely think otherwise.
Not only is it lifeless but it's remained unchanged for almost 20 years. In that time pretty much every state in America has introduced new plates.
If I was ever hired as Director of Tourism (or whatever the title is called) pushing for a change to that license plate would be one of the very FIRST things I would do.
If someone is so compelled to judge a state based on a piece of metal attached to a car, that is their problem.
Changing a license plate isn't going to change out-of-stater's minds about NJ.
Stick a tomato on it. The bad jokes will continue.
I don't know him personally, so I can't say whether or not I like him, but I certainly think most of his written opinions are beyond the realm of reason. In my opinion, the guy has a couple of loose screws.
If even half of what they write isn't true that still leaves our state a bankrupt, corrupt, polluted, insanely overtaxed mess !!!
(I can name more than a handful of other states with same issues that would still talk smack about NJ) And as far as the others...what would they know about it? They don't have to live here!
For native NJ'ans that can't handle, either work to fix or leave to escape it. For out-of-staters, you don't know so you should exercise this option:
