Nope- sounds like a somewhat odd combination, though- well-cooked meat and raw fish.....lol

Are you kidding?!? Go to the Ironbound section of Newark (don't worry, it's not bad area) and there are jillions of places: Seabra's and Brasilia come to mind immediately. There's also Solar do Minho in Belleville, right next to Newark. There's also Green Grill in Hackensack, which is quite good.

I think the main reason places like Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brasil don't come to NJ is because it would be really difficult for them to justify charging $50 for dinner when our local joints provide comparable experiences for $25 - $30.

Yes I have been down there, and they are excellent... but...these are not true Brazilian Steakhouses

Just curious, what are the difference you're finding between Newark's rodizios and "true" Brazilian steakhosues?

They are not the same...excellent some of them but not the same where the server keeps coming as long as your disc is green, with skewers of different meats.
Not looking for a Portugese place I know where my favorites are located

That's exactly what rodizio is- they keep bringing food as long as you want it. You've been going to the wrong places in Newark if that's not what you experienced.

Kate, all of the places mentioned have rodizio, where the servers come around with different meats. I know some of the restaurants have sit-down menus too. You have to request rodizio at these places.

BTW, Green Grill in Hackensack offers sushi too. It makes for a bizarre, yet fun, combination with the rodizio.

It looks like the sushi is not included with the rodizio at Rio 22. It is at Green Grill. Their website is Greengrill Rodizio, Brazilian B.B.Q., CHURRASCARIA if you're interested.
