Default Things You Like About NJ

Things you like about New Jersey, can be anything at all, favorite places, people, things....

Please don't argue with other people's positives. No competing on towns or regions (North vs. South vs. NW, on and on) What is a positive to someone might be a negative to others, but just let it go. Think of the things that YOU love.

  • Having the shore, the city, Philly and the mountains all within an hour or a few hours drive.
  • All of the green and hills of North Jersey.
  • The flats of South Jersey where the sunsets are even prettier.
  • Quite a bit of good hiking in-state too
  • You know who your friends are.
  • Sarcasm welcome.
  • The Sculpture Garden in Hamilton
  • The accent. All of them.
  • Rutgers!
  • Relatively good public schools (compared to other states)
  • Walking around Princeton after all the students leave in the summer
  • Good signage on the roads (again, relative)
  • We don't string our traffic lights on wires.
  • All of the great Indian food in Central Jersey
  • How every single town in North Jersey must have at least one or more Italian restaurants.
  • How freaking crazy and absurd Paramus is on a Saturday
  • How freaking crazy Blue Laws are (but welcome)
  • Not having to pump your own gas
  • Diners
  • Having four seasons
  • Plenty of rain and water
  • Flying into Newark and feeling like you're home

1. Choice of urban, suburban, and rural areas present in almost every county.
2. Generally educated population
3. Small historic towns with great downtowns spread all over the state
4. Mountains, lakes, ocean, deep forested areas all in one small state
5. Access to NYC and Philly, and easy to get away from them too
6. Relatively high salaries

Small lakes, streams and rivers for fishing, especially Warren and Hunterdon Counties.

Pine Barrons

State forests, especially Stokes and Waywayanda

Canoeing on the Delaware the whole length and camping on the deserted islands while living off the land with little to no provisions.

Villages....Smithville Village and Lafayette Village

Brigantine Wildlife Refuge

Sandy Hook Twin Lights, Barnegat Lighthouses, Sea Girt Lighthouse, Absecon Light house and Cape May Lighthouse.

I wont mention the shore because there are so many beautiful shore lines on Americas perimeter but I love NJs nautical names of the shore towns: Surf City, Little Egg Harbor, Neptune, Spray Beach, Forked River ae just a few of my favorte town names and places to visit.

NASCAR DRIVERS need LEFT TURNS! After all, that's all they do!
"They're making a left turn..."
"They're making another left turn..."

Default A Little America

I love the four seasons.
I love that New Jersey is one of the states safest from natural disasters. (We seldom have significant hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc.)
I love that New Jersey is "a happening place."
I love that in many ways, New Jersey is a microcosm of America.
