I'd certainly prefer a place closer to the palisades, but that's not to say that there's anything wrong w/ down the hill. I had some friends who lived very close to where you're looking at in a newly renovated 3 br with high ceilings and the place was just fine. There aren't a lot of local options in terms of places you can walk to. That's one gripe. But then again, I have a similar gripe at my Blvd E. location in Weehawken. Maybe I'm spoiled from having lived in Hoboken.

If value is your main driver for living there, I'd say give it a shot if you like the apartment.
One problem tho I found out that this apartment is over a deli I'm thinking that might make it more likely that I will have bugs or rodents.

I heard they are building a lot of businesses in both North Bergen and Harrison is that true? And is it for better or worse?

Hudson county in general is generous when it comes to renting considering it's location (besides Hoboken)

Bayonne is the same way when it comes to looking for a place to rent, and it's far from dangerous.

But 4 bedrooms for 1500 is excellent.

It's your call.
I have a friend who just rented out a immaculate studio in Manhattan for 1300 over a coffee shop which is a great deal since it's around downtown (Little Italy); She goes to work with a cup of coffee no problem everyday... I'd love to live above a deli especially with the deal you found.

LOL, maybe I'll get a sandwich everyday. I'm just worried about having bugs since there will be a constant food source downstairs.
