I'm looking to move to Monmouth County, but I'm finding commuting is going to be a problem. There is no available parking in train stations in towns like Hazlet, Middletown and Aberdeen/Matawan, so unless you live close to the train station, you are sunk. Not sure about how the buses work yet--I just know there aren't any from Keansburg to New York--just checked with NJ Transit.

Any Monmouth County commuters? How do you get to work in the city, people?
Moving to Aberdeen (Strathmore) next month. The house we bought will be within walking distance of a stop on the NJ Transit 133 bus to the Port Authority. All things being equal the train is usually better but the bus is almost $90 a month cheaper ($222 versus $309) for the train. I'll also save on parking.

my wife and I both used to work in NYC. We lived in Elizabeth and now Edison. 45 min to NYPennStation from Metropark. Then another 20 min to get to our offices. We still live in Edison but now commute to Morrise county. Commute now takes about 90min each way depending on traffic and whatever savings we saw from not paying city tax/train/subway/drycleaners have been completly eaten in tolls/gas/maintenance on our cars. AND we cant just sit back and relax during the commute. All said and done, I've been looking to change to something local or go back to NYC if I could only find a job paying close to the same or more then what im making now. Whith things the way they are right now. Im just happy to still be working.

THIS IS GREAT!!!! I work near the World Trade Center site and there are even buses that come in directly down here as opposed to the PABT.

Thank you thank you thank you.
No problem! The service is good too. Unfortunately they can't control the traffic at the Holland Tunnel. lol Still a good idea to be able to walk to the bus stop, though. We made sure we would be able to. I wouldn't want to have to deal with driving or cleaning the car off in the winter. One bad thing about the Wall Street service is there are no early afternoon buses. So if you have half a day you have to go up to Port Authority. But since you're by the Trade Center you're close to the train anyway. Happy househunting!
