Oldstonejim is on a distinguished road
Default New Englander coming to New Jersey

Taking a motorcycle trip with my wife and another couple in Sept. We are going to be in Millville for a few days, and I got my lodging set for that area.

However I would like to stay in the Fleminton area the first night. When we travel like this we like to stay in small downtown areas, preferably with a few small restaurants and a old movie house within walking distance to our hotel.

Ive done some searches on towns like...Frenchtown, Labbertville and Clinton and dont see anything like this. Our route is pretty flexible for this first day so if anyone has some ideas on small towns that would be nice to stay in please let me know.

I'd stay in New Hope, tons of restaurants, stuff to do. New Hope has a nice little old hotel. It's in PA though, right across the river from Lambertville. There is a theatre company there right on the river that is neat too, the Bucks County Playhouse.

Chester is a cute town with a main street...restaurants, galleries, shops, etc. Bernardsville is another good stop.
Frenchtown, Flemington, Lambertville/New Hope..all good choices. If you travel through PA, Bethlehem is supposed to be really nice. From there you can drive down 611 and there are a ton of little tiny towns along the route and you'll eventually end up in New Hope/Lambertville area. Great route for a motorcycle trip ... scenic drive along the Delaware.

I think Maplewood and Montclair, although I love them dearly, are too urban for this pretty country motorcycle trip.

What about some nice shore towns like Cape May?
