Haledon /Paterson
I'm going to be moving to Haledon/Paterson in a week or so. Can someone tell me what area of Paterson that is, off of Belmont ave? & what's the neighborhood like?

I don't know what the area is called. But it is not so bad I don't think. I don't think I would move there though.

belmont ave is one of the worst streets in paterson. depending on what part. passing the burgerking from paterson you should be fine. many people are not aware of what goes on in these neighborhoods. live there a few days and youll see what i mean.

this is a terrible area, I had a brick thrown thru my back car window, and my friend got a broken nose walking in that area (beat up) and we were not doing anything wrong. The area by Temple is the pot smoking and selling area. Its a terrible area!!!

I grew up in Paterson and very rarely ventured in that area. Once you've passed North 7th street then your good. Anywhere near belmont ave is a no no. Good Luck, lock your windows and if all possible take route 80 and cut through union blvd to get to your destination.

i lived @ lakeside at north haledon for 4 years... i moved in when it was first built ... it is actually a beautiful area to live in ... however, i did have to drive through not so pretty parts to get to route 80 or to go to the markets... on some occassions i would come down from north haledon to drive into hawthorne and take 208 to get rid of the riff raff. i would like to add that my departure from north haledon was due to my townhome being broken into and robbed... we never found out who did it and it often had me wondering if it was someone from the not so nice areas of Paterson. Where i lived the people were know to have jobs and lived a higher standards and different lifestyles... i can see stradlers being upset that we moved into their neighborhoods...

I used to constantly visit a friend on Belmont Ave in HALEDON. We always talked about how once you crossed into Paterson on Belmont Ave...it was terrible. Once you cross back into Haledon, especially over the bridge, it is much safer. Haledon is pretty blue collar, diverse but still pretty livable. You should be able to find an apartment that is relatively affordable in Haledon (by NJ standards). Otherwise, if you want really nice, than you need to keep driving up Belmont Ave to North Haledon.
