Default Paramus

Hi all,

I am a recent college grad who is taking a job in Paramus. I'm not from the area and know nothing about NJ. Does anyone know of any cool areas in/around paramus? I'm looking for an area with relativly low rents (studio/1bed $1000-1500) but lots of culture. Anywhere with good access to transportation to NYC is a plus. If anyone can help me out it'd be a huge help.

Thanks
-j

I lived in Paramus all my life until i got married 3 years ago. i went to all the public schools there and my parents still live in paramus so i know the area pretty well. Paramus itself does not have any apartments for rent or apartment buildings. it only has single family houses and very little two family houses. there are some townhouse complexes but not sure if there are any for rent. that being said, your best would be to look for something in Hackensack on Prospect Ave. This is a 10 minute car ride to Paramus. Hackensack also has MANY buses that go to NYC and will take you anywhere from 30-45 minutes to get into the city depending on what time you leave. Prospect Ave is the only place in Hackensack that I would recommend...many high rise apartment and condo building with numerous amenities. Good Luck!

I dont and have never lived in Paramus, but ive lived in that area and even farther west on Route 4. There is no way it takes 45 minutes to get into the city. 15 min is more like it. From Paterson to NYC on the Broadway Bus takes about 20 minutes. Paramus is ever closer.

It takes 45 minutes from Hackensack by bus to get into the city depending on what time you go (I go during rush hour) ...that is what I wrote. I said it takes 10 minutes BY CAR to get to Paramus from Hackensack. I have taken the bus to the city from Parmaus (163 Express NJ Transit) and it has never taken me less than 1 hour. Dont' know which bus line you are talking about. I have been commuting into the city for 7 years now.
