going to see a show at the Asbury park convention hall. If there are things to do within walking distance, I would like to hang out, and do some barhopping before the event. Is it still deserted, or are there things to do/see? Would likely not be interested in swimming.

Isn't Asbury Park a bad town? I wouldn't want to do anything within walking distance in that crappy place.

Well I don't remember what is what like last year, but Asbury park is teaming and crowded this summer. Lots of rebuilding, new restaurants, clubs, etc.
There is a yahoo group called Asbury Park where you can get a lot of info.

I was there last year and they seem to be improving in some areas. They added a miniature golf. The Stone Pony was loud as usual. People (not a lot though, of course) were around walking the boardwalk and the Convention Hall is being used. Small shops/restaurants were open. Other parts of AP still needed work to be done with.

(Now, if only AP could re-add an amusement park section to the place, you'd definitely get people come running. I did read that they are going to add some kind of boardwalk/arcade type of section. *sighs*)
