Not exactly sure what you are referring to? Dreaming about what? Honestly I have been very very lucky in my life not to mention I work hard and save. Not exactly sure why I would come on a web site and lie about a situation that has nothing to do with any of you? What exactly am I gaining? I brought the situation up because I read the whole pay down your mortgage vs 20% and pay as you go.
Sorry

The OP never said that was his true life scenario. He/she just wanted some advice based on those numbers. No harm no foul

I remember when we sold our townhouse, the buyer came in with all cash, about 300K roughly. I was in total disbelief. But he was totally for real. The other couple who had made an offer the same day (actually before him) lost out because they only had 15% down or something like that.

He was a single guy, worked hard and saved and invested well, and had the cash and he wanted to buy something outright and be done with it. And so he was!

hey i was trying to help you out. But now what your saying is you make 120k as a P.E. teacher in NJ? Now that is somewhat hard to belive since NJ has a cap on teacher salaries. But if you are able to pull 120K as a teacher more power to you.

By the way its not that impossible to make more money as a teacher. You have lots of time in the summer and during short breaks.

Why do people try to bring other people down?

It's like people can't stand the fact to hear that someone has some cash or is making X amount of income.

Really. How the heck does one save $350K????

But the person who said you need to take other things into consideration is correct. I am looking to buy a house or townhouse but going cheaper than my salary would dictate because it's more important to me to pay for my daughter's college right now.

I had a house fire once--the house was a rental but I lost everything I owned. It was sort of cleansing and I don't get too attached to "stuff" since then. I'm probably the last person in NJ who doesn't own a flat-screen television because my old one still works and I don't watch TV every day anyway.
