Default Looking for a SUMMER HOUSE in South NJ

Hi folks
It has been long time since i last signed here and I missed it..but had no time.
Anyway, I am thinking to buy a summer house at the shore. I am not in any need of it just missed the summers i was used to.
So if you want to delight me here with any ideas I will appreciated it a lot..
I am looking for a 2 bedroom, close by the shore or waterfront or oceanfront or anything with front and water.. I don't know which city is kinda affordable and nice place for families (2 little ones).
I don't want something expensive, we are looking for a good buy and cheap buy..The cheaper the better.. actually I don't want to pay more than 150 thousands. Single home would be perfect.
But I have no idea where to start.
I did take a look and the cheap ones are mobile homes and I want to own it , can not afford to pay every month $ 700 for the whole year along with 2 mortgages and enjoy it only for 2 weeks.
Thank you for your time..

I don't do much business in shore real estate but your budget sounds really low for waterfront property. You did not mention how far down the shore you are willing to go. My advice is to find a good Realtor to help you search.

A few questions:

1. "South Jersey" is a relative term. Are we talking Ocean County, Cape May County, anything in between?

2. $700/mo could be what you pay in taxes, much less total mortgage payment. Your best bet may be renting the house out for significant periods of time to pay the bills.

3. I think you'll have to look a bit inland. You can get reasonably close to the bay in towns like Forked River, Lanoka Harbor, Waretown, Manahawkin, but it'll be a drive to the ocean and $150K will be very tough.

I don't mind up to 10 minutes..Realtors want to sell. That is their job, I understand. If you ask them they will say that everywhere is great when people from here will tell the truth and their honest opinion.
When I bought my house up north, my realtor was a great guy but never turned us from a house, he just didn't really gave any opinion afraid that we could walk away or changed our minds etc.
I am not really asking from you to find me a house (which would be great)..I just don't know the area. I saw many many cheap houses in Tom's river, Holdel ( I think) etc., and that makes me believe that probably are problems there..
or my question, which is a great website ( kind of gsmls?)

Thanks

i want my own house..a homie..i don't like renting, after time the amount i will pay for rent will equal what i would have paid for purchase. Looking for a little cute one when i can go whenever i want and my friends can go whenever they want and later my kids when they will grow up..
