I still go to Atlantic City occasionally they have some excellent shows, but for regular gambling I just go to Harrah's in Chester PA since it is much closer to my home. I have not seen Fame however.

Yeah, I go to AC once in a while, usually for the day but maybe one overnight a year. There have been a few threads on the board about AC asking what to do, where to go. I haven't gone to a show there in a few years.
I can't go to see the stage show Fame; I remember the television show too well.

Atlantic City is the pits these days. Back in the 1960's it was a beautiful place with great entertainment, but I wouldn't set foot there these days.

Why? It really is not bad at all. busloads of grannys arrive down there all the time, and you are afraid of going? give me a break.
I usually only stay over one or two nights when i go, so i dont take in the shows as much (and i imagine i am way too young for this particular show. So i am not much help to this topic.

I go there sometimes for dinner or a day trip, but I rarely stay. The prices for a hotel room on the weekend are absolutely outrageous in my opinion. I have stayed over during the week, however, and have gotten $59 rooms. It's not worth it to me to spend $400 to avoid a 45 minute drive home on the weekend, however.

Couldn't agree more. Why would anyone in their right mind pay $400 a night in a disgusting bedbug-ridden AC hotel room when you can get a 4 day cruise to the Carribean, all meals included, with gambling on the ship for the same price!!
I think its going to be a slow and painful death for AC (and I do like going there) until they price hotel rooms for what the market will pay.

I think many AC casinos have come to rely on (a) "regulars" who are members of the various casino players' clubs who get their rooms comped, and (b) conferences/conventions of different professional groups that can no longer fund trips to farther away places, like Las Vegas. At least, that was the mix the last time we stayed at the Borgata.
These days it really doesn't seem to take that much of a gambling history with the casinos to get a comped room, particularly during the week or on non-holiday weekends -- as they would like to keep you under their roof to play more. After all, the casinos make their real money on the gaming floor, not on room charges and food expenditures -- don't they?

Ive been there twice in the last 10 years. It holds very little attraction for me. NYC is less than 30 min away if I want to see a show. I dont gamble. There are some great buffets close to home. No way Im paying for a hotel room when im less than 2 hours from home.
