Question Does anyone have pictures of old Irvington?

Theres always these threads about how towns like Irvington, Orange, and Newark used to be good/clean/etc.

Can someone show proof of this? I wasnt in NJ during this time so i'll like to compare.

Thanks!

I suggest you go to a bookstore and pick out the "Images of America" books that feature lots of NJ towns. Here's Newark, Irvington, and East Orange.

I think, telling from their covers, they seemed to be pretty clean towns back then full of community spirit.

the book in the first link is actually about the city of newark, ohio - not newark, nj.

here's a link to images of america's book on newark, nj:
Newark, New Jersey (Images of America Series), Images of America Series, Jean-Rae Turner, Book - Barnes & Noble

^ I see.. Edit: Nevermind! (edit 2: Read the description wrong on the Ohio site. *slaps forehead* Thought it was weird for it to be there.)

Interesting... Didn't think there was a Newark in Ohio named after the one in NJ.

I grew up in Irvington. Born in Newark in 75 and moved away in 1990.... Things have changed since then.... Good luck.

You might also do a search under Camptown. Or even West Farms. The town's original name.
