Default Living in Clinton - Good idea? Pro's and Con's?

Does anyone know what Clinton is like, specifically for raising a young family? The downtown is obviously attractive, but how is the vibe there overall? Is there a sense of community, are people friendly, quality schools?

I grew up in Montclair, currently live in Union County, and have lived/traveled a lot of the country and world (including NY and LA). We are now looking for a change, and the best place to raise our 3 little ones. Commuting is not an issue. Clinton appears to have a lot going for it - open spaces, larger lots, highway convenience - but again that's from the outside looking in.

Thanks in advance.
