Default Teaneck Property Taxes

Hello,

Have read a good amount about Teaneck and love its proximity to NYC (work). I'm looking to purchase either a condo or co-op and had a question regarding its property taxes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand it has higher RE taxes than comparative towns in Bergen County? Also didn't the town just have its property taxes reassessed (I remember the Record article) several years back?

Was this for the entire town or certain pockets, as I'm looking at a particular place off Cedar Lane by Windsor, which I assume is a 'better' part of Teaneck (though, coming from NYC all parts feel safe to me)? Thanks for any input.

Here is a link to do research on property taxes. You can type in any address and find out the assessment and taxes for the year.

APP.com | Monmouth and Ocean counties DataUniverse | Asbury Park Press

Teaneck does have high property taxes, but so do many towns.

For the reassessment, it's always a good idea to call the Tax Assessor and find out when the last reassessment was, and if there is one upcoming. If they did reassess recently, they would have had to reassess the entire town, not pockets, I believe.

I don't know the specifics on the Taxes there but I do know that when house hunting a few years back our realtor gave us lots of info on different towns. The one thing I rememeber is her telling us that Teaneck had surprisingly high taxes. Since it is only a condo with no land the difference might not be too bad.
