Mackay Park area in Englewood??
A long long time ago, I lived in Englewood on Knickerbocker Rd near Dwight Morrow, fine, lovely, nice neighborhood. Back then (in the 1970s) the area around Mackay Park was thought to be pretty dicey and rough, not a place people felt comfortable being outdoors late night. I've been house hunting in the area and have noticed some interesting properties around there, near Mackay and Argonne Parks. Has the neighborhood changed, is it okay and nice for families or is still a bit rough? Thanks for your help!

Didn't seem that nice last time I was there. Not sure about at night. We used to go to the ice rink all the time though.

Thanks Joe, guess I'll take a drive through this weekend and check it out myself. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I live closer to Jones Road/Route 4 area...on the other side. My son attended football at the rec center in Makay park and it's definitely a different "class" over there versus where I live. Is it dangerous? Not that I know of....just a bit lower class on that side.

Thanks NJMom2Tyler! I think your area is very pretty, I looked at a house there and love the feeling, it's very different from the Mackay Park area, which I've found is more urban.

Could you clarify what you mean concerning the passages that I boldfaced?
Why didn't "people" feel comfortable being outdoors at night? Were starving grizzly bears roaming that area?
"Is it okay and nice for families or is it still a bit rough?" ..... Are you asking if it is still an industrial area as opposed to one where people (families) live?
Sounds like a strange surreal town.

Englewood is a city, as with most cities, some areas were safer than others when I was young. I was wondering how they are now. Was I that obtuse??

Actually, I found the boldfaced statement to be the exact opposite of obtuse because your implication was unclear. You used the word people as in : "ALL" people. So if all people were uncomfortable going outside at night, what was making the place "dicey and rough?" Not only do I find it strange that you claim to know what all people felt; I am curious to know what entity, beside human beings, is capable of making a geographical location "dicey and rough?"

Your original post was crass, self-righteous, unpliant, and hidebound. You insinuated that people who you perceive to be outside of your dictum do not even merit to be counted. Your post was devoid of poise. And, yes, some people think I am dopey.
