Hi, All
I have a little girl (6 years old)with DS. I am buying a house in Cranford. Any information about Lincoln school or the special education program in Hillside ave school will be really appreciated.

From what I hear Cranford has a really good public school system. I used to live in nearby Roselle Park. Check out greatschools.net

I substitute teach there, so I may be a little biased, but I think it's a wonderful school! Cranford is a great district, which is why I sub there, even though I live in Parsippany.

Thank you all for the replies. I am very happy to hear all the positive responses.
Hi, HeatherLynn822,
Since you have teached there, I want to ask a more specific question. My daughter currently is in special ed program in west orange public school. she loves to go to school every day. She is very active physically but much worse in speech. there is a special ed program in hillside school in cranford. What's the difference between that program and lincoln school? Which school is more appropriate for my daughter?
Best wishes

From my understanding, Lincoln school may be for children with more behavioral based difficulties, as opposed to specific learning disabilities. I don't normally get called to sub at Lincoln, but I have heard incredibly wonderful things about it.
Cranford strives really hard not to segregate the special ed kids, and provides a lot of in class support. They do also occupational & occupational type therapies for 1/2 a period or so where the child IS removed from the class, but this is very normalized. This is true at Hillside Ave or any school in the district.
