Default commute from Annandale to NYC

Does anyone know how the commute from Annandale, NJ to midtown Manhattan is? My husband and I are considering buying a house in Annandale (we love the area), but I am concerned about his travel time. We live in Franklin Park now, he takes the Turnpike home and it takes him about an hour to an hour and a half. He assures me that his commute time will not change because according to Mapquest, it is only an extra 10 minutes via Rt 78. This unfortunately does not take into account traffic. He does not like taking the train. Does anyone know how long of a commute it really is? I'm also wondering which commute is better, Turnpike or Rt78? We have been looking for a home for a long time and I think we have found the one in Annandale but we have a 3 year old son... I want to make sure he gets to see his dad at night before he goes to bed.
Any input would be appreciated.

That should be a doable commute, but I'm wondering if he really drives all the way in or at some point in NJ park & take a PATH?
Just saying, since daily parking in Manhattan is though unless you have a Press pass or something.

That depends on how late you let a three year old to stay up.
Living in Annandale means a partial commute on either I 78 or RT22 both are heavily traveled during the commuter hour and backups are the norm not the exception.
Annandale is a great area so I can see the attraction but I would strongly consider taking the train which has a station in Annandale.

BTW, I use I78 and RT 22 daily and I try to stay off either one before 9:00am

Thanks for the input. My husband drives all the way into Manhattan. He tried taking the train for a while but it actually took longer because of delays and problems that were common on the NE corridor line. He had to then take the subway from Penn Staion/NY to get to work.
Do you know if there are many people who live in Clinton or Hunterdon Cty in general who work in NY? Also, he needs to be in the office by 8:00am. Do you think he will miss a good portion of the traffic in the morning if he leaves at 6:30?
Thanks for your help.
