Default Paterson, NJ Thread.

Dear Friends

I have lived with my parents in an affluent Bergen County town all my life. For me, Paterson NJ was a town that in the past I looked down on and was afraid to go to.

After meeting some people there, traveling the area, and an unfortunate financial situation, I am moving to Paterson NJ soon. I am attending Passaic Community College starting September 2009.

To me, a non-affluent 19 year old 'child', I feel Eva's soup kitchen (located at 343 Main St, serves free lunch) will help out a lot. Now, asides from rent, and laundry (which I can do for free in certain areas), my expenses are minimal. Also, I will be able to save on transportation to college.

Additionally, I am looking for input on things to do in paterson, community events, input on different streets/blocks/clubs/centers/parks etc. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration. If you have any questions, or are from the area, feel free to contact me.

Wait, so you're moving from your nice family house in Bergen County to live in Paterson and eat at a soup kitchen? This is such a joke thread...

Oh, and P.S.: If you get a drunken prank call from someone this weekend, it'll be someone from C-D.

Alex,

Congrats on the move and good luck in school.

Stay safe. You may embrace all that Paterson may have to offer, but be aware of your surroundings at all times. I have been involved in self-protection programs for a long time, and have learned that crimes happen very quickly. Use common sense, and good luck.

P.S. I'm not sure I would post my cell number on a public forum, but it's up to you.

I'm sure you'd enjoy all the ethnic food. South Paterson has a lot of good Middle Eastern/Arab restaurants. Little Lima next to downtown has great Peruvian food. There's also some Bengali grocery stores where the desserts are to die for. There's even some Italian food left too.

One of the best things about Paterson is its rich ethnic diversity.
