we accidentally drove through it once when we got lost visiting a cousin who lives in short hills. that once was enough for me to know that i never want to find myself there again.
it is completely reasonable for people to give opinions on places that they have never been. i guarantee you that most people outside the area would be much better served listening to my opinion than yours or newark magic's.

So basically you're admitting that you really have no right to speak on Irvington. Being that you never been in Irvington before until your little roadtrip, are you sure that you were in Irvington? You could have been in Newark. You could have been on the wrong side of town. You could have been in a million places. You don't even know what Irvington looks like or not even a street there so why are you talking?
This is exactly what I'm talking about. When I talk about Irvington, I talk about the whole town since I used to live there and live right by it. I actually been to all of the parts of Irvington. You on the other hand are speaking from an outsiders perspective. So either way if you were lost in Irvington or whereever, you really can't tell the original poster about Irvington.
Your opinion holds no weight in this topic. Stick with Morganville. There's a topic going on about Morganville. Why don't you go mess with that instead?

When I accused you of being a racist you came right back and accused me of being one. When I spoke of your specific brand of hate then you claimed that I had my own brand. This is a classic defense mechanism of someone who feels accountable. Kind of like an 8 year-old screaming out, "I know you are but what am I na na na na na..!"
You are a class act.

i think its very accurate to say im racially insensitive. i dont care about race. i care about reality. i see no need to pretend irvington isnt a terrible town just because its being insensitive to the black residents who are trying to turn the place around. let me add that i never want to visit a town where someone supporting the town suggests people are trying to turn it around. its not a very appealing characteristic, at least not until after it has been successfully turned around.
i think you are a racist. i think you are obsessed with race. i think you have basically called everyone a racist and ethno-centrist who says anything negative about irvington but being called a racist doesnt scare me off so its easy to try to stick the label on me. remember, you are the one that brought the race issue into this thread.

i said i was in irvington, i was in irvington. i also said that you dont have to visit a place in order to have an opinion about the place.
i think an outsider's perspective is often exactly what another outsider is looking for. my opinion regarding irvington is not only as valid as yours, its more valid.
also, please stop with the "you never been" stuff. i dont speak ebonics.

Ebonics? Are you serious?
Please shut up for your own sake. Don't try to get all racist on me. I know you feel embarrassed but you turned it into a match you knew you wasn't going to win. Now you want to get all racist with me. Let me just calm down before I say something really f*cked up.

There you go with the rhetoric. I am assuming you are an adult, so take a deep breath and calm down and get a hold of yourself. When you lie about something I said in the same thread the truth is only a few clicks away. You stated that I have, "basically called everyone a racist and ethno-centrist who says anything negative about irvington." NOT TRUE. I called you and ReluctantGardenStater racists; I hate to deflate your ego but you and your confederate hardly qualify as everybody.
There were at least 10 different posters who had negative things to say about Irvington but I did not call them racists or ethno-centrists. I didn't because I don't think they are racists. You and Reluctant fit the bill, though.
For a guy who claims he doesn't care a lick for Irvington or the people who reside there you sure seemed obsessed with it. You have been posting about it for days now. That's my whole beef with you. You say one thing but do another. That is why you have absolutely zero credibility. How can anyone take anything you say seriously now? You claim to not care about Irvington or Newark or their residents but spend a lot of time and energy typing about them, talking about the people that live there, the crime rate, their relationship with other towns, etc.
You said that you never want to visit a town where the residents are trying to fix it's problems; but only after they have succeeded you will go. That has got to be the most self-righteous, egotistical, heartless, unhuman, unempathetic statement I have heard so far on City Data.
I am sure I will be speaking to you a lot more concerning Irvington, Newark, and East Orange. I love my city and I love it's neighbor, Irvington. And you can say you hate it but actions speak. You have been helping me bump the Irvington thread to the top for a few days now. Let's keep up the good work.
Cuidad de tabiques.

It's okay. I'm done with you. Stop talking. Just so you know, I reported you for this and your last comment. So if you get any warnings, blame yourself.

you are hardcore.
not getting the response you hoped for in your little "dont take about places you havent been to" thread are you? thats because its a very stupid concept. we talk to people, we read things, we hear things, we form opinions. being in a place is only one way to get information about that place, not the only way. anyway, you are only taking that position because it is impacting your sensitivities regarding your home town. do you think anyone believes that you dont hold any opinions about things that you havent been personally involved with?
