Hoboken. The good social scene stuff is the toughest part, and you have the best bet of finding stuff to do in Hoboken.

That's pretty funny. I lived outside of Charlotte and I feel much MUCH safer here in Monmouth County than I ever felt in NC.

Haha, I agree. I've lived in a few places and anywhere here is safer than most of them. Still, some people on here tend to suggest "up and coming" (read: pipe dreams) urban areas that are chock full of crime. But generally, anywhere outside of New Jersey's urban areas are pretty damn safe, especially compared to national standards.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. As far as what I'm looking to spend on rent; I'm prepared to spend b/t 1500 and 2000. Hoboken sounds like a blast but it may be little too crowded for me. I've also heard that Morristown is good for the 30ish crowd and may be slightly more low key. Let's hope you guys are wrong about the crime thing though
