Thumbs down Atlantic City..are they nuts????????

Hubbie wanted to get out of Dodge the weekend of his birthday, he hates fan fare.
So we thought a late September weekend in AC would be in order.
The casinos are screaming their revenue is way down but yet the room rates are I think high. I'm not paying almost $700 after all the fees & taxes for a place to sleep for 2 nights...sheesh

Hubbie hasn't been down in awhile so i don't think his rewards card will help.
I wonder if I call if I could get a better rate??

That is INSANE......

If you have your heart set on staying on the boradwalk, a midweek trip will get you a much better rate.
Other than that, we have stayed in "off the boardwalk" hotels on the weekend, like the Red Roof Inn... and they are not all that bad. We are rarely in the room anyway, and they are less than a 1/3 of a cost of the bigger hotels....

Just to give ya some options.

Have a fun trip! =)

Yeah, those rates are absurdly high for the end of September, even on a weekend.... is there something going on down there that weekend where they might jack up the rates? Do they still do Miss America in AC in September?

I have no idea why they still quote those ridiculous inflated prices. I just searched "Atlantic City hotel room deal" and got all sorts of promising looking returns. You think that they'd tell you about promotions or to visit the web for offers, packages.

This is so weird. My husband and I are planning to go there on the same weekend. We wanted to stay at a nice new hotel/casino. It was looking like right around $800 for 2 nights (Friday/saturday). We went to MEXICO for our honeymoon for an entire week and the package was only $2,000 including hotel and airfare!

Well, they're not making any money in the casino anymore, so they can't give the rooms away like they used to. Gotta try to make some money somewhere.
