Ewing neighborhood question
Hi
We are looking to buy a place on Nancy Ln in Ewing. It's near Upper Ferry Rd, and a bit south of 295.
The neighborhood currently looks very nice, however we are concerned about all the talk of Trenton violence, etc spilling into Ewing. Is this an area people are concerned about? What is your opinion of this area?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

What's your budget? Are you going to have to use the schools?
If I had to rank all the towns in Mercer County (other than Trenton), Ewing would be at the bottom of my list of towns to buy in.

It is true that area of Ewing is very nice and safe. Other areas of Ewing (as you get close to the border of Trenton) are not. I agree with the others about the schools. Ewing HS was ranked 258 out of 316 in the latest NJ Monthly Magazine and a 3 out of 10 according to Greatschools.net. If I had children or were planning on it I would look elsewhere otherwise I might buy there. Good luck.

thanks everyone for the responses. We don't have kids but are planning on it. So I guess the school systems won't be a problem for a while.
What we're worried about is that even these relatively good neighborhoods will get affected by Trenton eventually and we'll have a hard time re-selling when we have to move.

If you're planning on having kids, school will come quicker than you think and you don't want to be caught trying to re-sell in that time frame. Have you looked at Hamilton at all? There are some nice neighborhoods there, Hamilton Square etc. Good luck.

I moved from Ewing Township to Oklahoma about a year and a half ago. We lived in Ewing for about 22 years. The street you're looking at is fine, and in the 22 years we lived there, nothing in that area changed. It's too far from Trenton for it to be a problem.
Both of my kids went through Ewing schools up to part of high school. The elementary school they were in (Parkway) was awesome. The principal at the time was phenomenal and they had a wonderful experience. The Middle school was so-so. By then some of the kids were getting a little out of control, but overall it was all right. The high school was another matter. Both kids did poorly. They both have learning disabilities so unfortunately they were in class with the worse of the worse (a lot that were sneaking in from Trenton.) We ended up pulling my son out and having him finish with his GED. We moved in the middle of my daughter's sophomore year and her new high school here is SOOOO much better. She's doing well, the behavior of the students is equivalent to a private school in NJ.
We loved Ewing Township. We had a lot of friends there, but I, unfortunately, have to agree with those who said the schools are a serious problem in the higher grades.

What everyone said. It's fine unless you have kids who will have to go to the high school.
