Is Jackson, NJ a safe town? Did they have problems with their water or something? Thanks!

Jackson is pretty safe. The water problems are in Toms River. Back to Jackson, It has become very pricey.

Jackson is a beautiful town and safe! West though, not near the water side.
A bit expensive now, and semi-high taxes.
IT was Tomsriver that had contaminated water a few years ago.
What are a few factors your looking for? We have lived in ocean county for
20 years

We lived in Jackson for 15 years but moved out 4 years ago. Its a nice area but is now getting all the problems that over devolping brings. The school systems are decent with some new schools just opened and I'm sure more on the way. When we left our property taxes just hit 8,000.00 a year for very little services. We still paid for water and garbage pick up. Friends of our just purchases the preverbial "Mcmansion" in Jackson for 650,000 and their taxes are 9600.00a year. On a recent trip back to the area we were amazed by the amount of devoplment. Also we noticed that just about all the roadsides were strewn with litter so this might be an indication of what is to come.

we Live in Jackson we have happy however we are leaving NJ as we need to start fresh and both my kids are very excited.. Im selling a 3500 sq home, and are in negotiations right now, My son goes to Goetz Middle very very overcrowded and from what ive been told if the referandum doesnt pass for another school obvoiously it will stay over croweded, my son has 33 kids in his class right now...and because of the high taxes people wont vote to spend more money on imporovments or new schools...but as A TOWN its a great place to raise a family..Our home is all Vinyl Siding but beautiful, we moved in almost 3 years ago and the taxes were 8200 and now they are 10.5 and we are getting reassesed now and tax assesor said by end of 08 my taxes will be 13k..there is only 2 new schools, the Elem my daughter goes to is awesome, 3 years old, the the new hs is on the other side of jackson (liberty)

A sign of more things to come was a recent article I read that identified a new housing development currently being built consisting of 900 homes, and about 6,000 more future homes pre-approved for Jackson. With that being said you know that Jackson will very soon need several more new elementary & middle schools and most likely down the road a 3rd high school. That is not out of the question when you consider that in nearby Toms River, they already have their own three high schools. living near Jackson and passing through there every day I do see & know that Jackson does provide many opportunities for kids both in schools & recreational programs. There is ongoing growth and I hate to see the property taxes down the road as the re-evaluation is now going on as one previous thread indicated.
Food for thought.

Allen I absoultely agree with u....the problem is it grew way too fast and prices went up up and up and didnt do it gradually...However alot of markets here are feeling it, and you do still get more for your money here...well we are signing contracts with a close of june 1st We cant wait...to get to NC...anyway, it will be scary to see in a few years what will happen...
