Can you walk from downtown Toms River to the beach? Does the Toms River bus system go to the beach?

No. It's a long way down Rt. 37 to Seaside and over the big bridge over the bay. It's only 10 minutes by car (if that, depending on traffic) but walking would take forever. I wasn't aware that the township ran any buses, actually. The county does run a bus service, but I have no idea where it goes. I've seen the buses on Rt. 37 though.

I think you can use the bay over in Bayshore. Not exactly the beach, but some nice areas.

no- you can't walk to the ocean beaches- and I think the seasonal buses have stopped the runs this time of year.

Cool You can take the bus to beach

You can take the bus offered by the freeholders. It's called Ocean Ride.
You can pick it up in a few places. Get a brochure from the Ocean County Mall, or ask the transit to send you one.
You can also get a 67 bus all summer to beach from just about anywhere in Toms River main area of Rt. 37.
Once you de-bus you can walk about 4 blocks to Seaside Beach.
Hope that helps.
