Question I reactivated my unemployment account...

...last week because I passed my one year mark and still no job.

I stopped getting my checks and when I would call it said how its not payable at this time and I will receive credit blah blah blah. I did a search on this site and I read that on the one year mark you have to have the account reactivated. So first I tried calling and of course got no where with that, so I went to the office. When I got there I explained everything and the lady said I have to open up a new claim. So I did and when I was finished she said I should be receiving a packet in a few days. I also told her how I hadn't received any checks for a couple weeks so I'm assuming they'll come with the "packet" she said I would be receiving?

Its been over a week since I went and I haven't received anything at all. Does it usually take this long?
oh and btw this is to get my tier 2 benefits because about a month ago I got a letter in the mail saying I was approved.

thanks

-Romina

They misinformed you. at the 1 you mark they are suppose to just reactive the current claim since the extensions surpass 1 year. you were NOT supposed to file a new claim and that is a fact. you may need to call them again. when my 1 year was up, they just do something to override the 1 year limit NOT making you a new claim.

ughhhh!!!!jfeilfjlijfa!!!!!

I had a feeling that was gonna happen! When I told her I just needed to reactivate it because it was past one year she said no you have to open a new claim. And I said to her ARE YOU SURE? and she said yes.
WTF!
Did I not explain myself correctly? Should I of said something else?
I really hope my account didn't get totally messed up.

dont panick. It has happened to a lot of people in confusion. A lot of the people at unemployment always mess this up. when a person is on unemployment and has remain money ( extensions, etc ) filing a new claim is not the correct process. they are supposed to overide your 1 year limit to continue with the tiers or EB. Just call them back and go over it with them. I recall reading a lot about this happening when people hit thier 1 year mark.
