Default Somerset

I recently saw 2 properties on Somerset.
1) A single fam. house on Churchill Ave.
2) A townhouse on Quailbrk sector.

I liked and disliked some things on both, but I would like to get some feedback on the areas.

Is anyone familiar with these areas? Any feedback is welcome.

No Churchill. I'd eat glass before I lived on that street.

Quailbrook is a much better option.

Somerset really doesn't exist, it's Franklin.

School system is not so good. The "bad areas" of Franklin drag down the rest of the town. If someone searches out crime in the area, they are going to pull up results that will hurt resale value.

Actually Somerset is a small area of Franklin Twp. adjacent to South Bound Brook bounded by the D&R canal and running along Easton ave. towards New Brunswick. Somerset is not to be confused with the "projects" which are adjacent to New Brunswick.

I understand that. Quailbrook is on the nice side of town. But I'm just giving warning that because it's part of Franklin, the crime stats and school stats get figured into the mix.

*we* know the area is nice. But you have no guarantee that the next buyer will.

Then why mention it "doesn't" exist??? Somerset has a zip code. I work in Somerset. I know most will say, "Somerset? Oh you mean Franklin? Same thing." Quailbrook is nice.

Somerset is in Franklin Township/Somerset County.

Middlebush is a village in Somerset in Franklin Township in Somerset County.

Same zips, other than Franklin Park and the section of Franklin Twp that has a Princeton zip.

Yep, big issues once you cross Franklin Blvd. Gangs (b/c New Brunswick has infiltrated into Somerset) and the projects.

Not to mention that New Brunswick knocked down their "old" HS and decided to build a $180M+ brand new HS right behind the projects and BS in Somerset. Hopefully the buses will cart the extra crap right back to NB and not let them walk to "aunt" or "uncle" whomever that live across rt. 27 in the projects in Somerset so they can make more trouble than they already do.

The brand spankin' new New Brunswick HS is absolutely astounding and gorgeous and HUGE. But this new school is...for gang bangers, those who don't speak english, illegals and the rest of the scum of the earth, but I digress...it a shining star for money spent in abbot school districts. It's gorgeous.

Not open yet but it's as wide as it is deep. Probably 1.5 city blocks long.

This brand new school is going to give the children of the residents of New Brunswick who are M3's, bloods, and crips the opportunity to do what? Better organize their gangs should they pay attention in a class they actually show up to?

"Free" day-care for the 15 year olds going on baby #3 ?

What a waste of money.

My friend's uncle works for Franklin Twp government and he has said the same thing - it's built right on the New Brunswick/Franklin border and even he said it was a stupid move for those reasons. And they've been in the area far longer than I have, he says he could remember gangs in Somerset as far back as he could remember. Dated a girl from there not too long ago - said it was bad, that people got shot and killed there on a regular basis - personally I wouldn't live there. Since cleaning up New Brunswick, I've heard many people say Somerset has some streets that are more crime-ridden than any street in New Brunswick today.

I used to substitute teach in Piscataway - which has some very marginal areas near the Plainfield border - and you have people who live on streets that run through both towns, such as Rock Ave and 7th Ave and guess what? There are now gangs from Plainfield sneaking into Piscataway HS, and there was enough evidence of that even going on at Quibbletown Middle School, I once subbed for a non-mainstreamed 8th grade special ed class there, it was like Welcome Back Kotter. Anyway the HS had this brand new addition like a corridor connecting the two buildings, and that entire campus looks very nice from the outside, I wonder how long it will take for those Plainfield gangs to tear the new section of the school to shreds.

On a related note I was talking to a retired woman who was subbing at Quibbletown MS in Piscataway who used to teach at Franklin High, she'd said the year after retiring she'd heard in the news about murders of three students at Franklin High School.
